The Feast of the Ascension, forty days after Easter, commemorates the ascending of Jesus Christ to Heaven from Mount Olivet.
You can read the full story of this glorious event in Luke Chapter 1, verses 1-11. Here’s is a snippet.
“You shall receive the power of the Holy Ghost coming upon you, and you shall be witnesses unto Me…
even to the uttermost part of the earth. And when He had said these things,
while they looked on, He was raised up: and a cloud received Him out of their sight.”
Acts 1:8-9
It is a popular practice to begin a 9-day Novena to the Holy Ghost on the day after the Ascension, in anticipation of the next feast – Pentecost!
