Wonderful Bambino recently asked me to review their one-size 100% bamboo fitted on 16-month-old Erik and sent a green edged diaper for us to test. Not surprisingly, my first impression of the fitted was how soft everything was, including the leg gussets. The bamboo fabric is a super fine, silky terry that has a lovely drape, feel and stretch to it.
Wonderful Bambino fitteds come with either red or green stitching on the edges and feature:
- A sewn in soaker (you can also purchase fold-to-fit bamboo inserts from Wonderful Bambino or just lay in your own, if you like)
- Adjustable rise with 4 size settings (3 rows of snaps) to accommodate babies from 12 to 40 pounds
- Crossover waist snaps for skinnier babies
- Gentle leg and back elastic
Erik first wore the Wonderful Bambino fitted for a 2-hour nap and it actually lasted well past the nap, so this is definitely a very absorbent diaper. Next, I tested it over night and added one regular bamboo doubler from my stash. This combo kept leaks at bay all night. To get the same absorbency through a nap and beyond, I’d have to double up on prefolds. Is bamboo as thirsty as hemp? Not quite…but then hemp is not this soft and silky!
Unlike some fitteds, which can be challenging to “stuff” completely under a waterproof cover because of bulk or a wide cut, the Wonderful Bambino’s trim style works with every one-size cover in my stash and is easy to completely tuck in. My favorite cover to use with fitted diapers? Definitely Sweet Peas.
So I’m super pleased with not only the absorbing power, but also the great fit of this diaper. At $19.95, it’s a good price for a fantastic fitted that could possibly be your solution for a heavy wetter at nap time or even overnight. Just having one or two of these in your stash would be a valuable asset!
There is a drawback, however, and that’s the drying time. It takes 2 full cycles on my machine to get the diaper completely dry, and this is even after spinning in a high-efficiency washer. To get around this issue, I do one of two things:
- After running one dryer cycle with all my other diapers, I hang-dry the diaper.
- After running one dryer cycle with all my other diapers, I’ll toss the diaper in the dryer with my next load of regular household laundry.
Bamboo diapers also get a little bit stiff after many uses and washes, as compared to cotton which stays soft.
I’ve mentioned several times how trim this diaper is. You might be wondering just how absorbent can it be? VERY (which is why it takes a long time to dry). Bulky diapers with lots of fabric layers don’t always translate to super absorbency, and they definitely have their drawbacks. You might have to go up a size (or two) to get clothes to fit right. They might gape at the legs or waist. It can also be tricky fitting all that bulk completely inside the diaper cover. The Wonderful Bambino fitted definitely solves those problems because it truly is highly absorbent without giving your baby a huge, padded bum.
The availability of just two colors of contrasting trim on the edges may or may not be a negative for you. I love colors just as much as the next mama, but with bamboo diapers you usually don’t get as much variety. If Wonderful Bambino added more thread color options in the future, that would be fun, but it’s not a deal-breaker for me (especially since it’s worn with a cover on top). I love this diaper and we have been using it A LOT past the testing phase.
Here are some pictures showing how great this diaper fits on Erik, who is 16 months old and about 22 pounds. The stretchy wings, soft but snug gussets and silky fabric hug him just right, and the diaper stays put no matter how active he gets.

Fitteds are the best for heavy wetters, especially one that have a hemp or bamboo core. I haven’t tried these but I’d love to give them a shot.
Kate Niven says
Bamboo fitted diapers are the only ones that work for us for those heavy overnight wets. Thanks for the entry, Happy Mother’s Day!
Zephyr Hill says
Thanks, Kate, you too! ~Anne
Taylor Schell says
before we started part time ECing my son was such a heavy wetter and it was so frustrating! prefolds and fitted diapers were the only one I could really use. but I do love fitted diapers bc they solved my nighttime issues. fitted+hemp insert with PUL or wool = bulletproof
Rebecca T says
I love bamboo because it’s so soft and absorbent. I do need to use a fleece liner in it though, because my baby is sensitive to wetness. Hopefully she’ll grow out of that. This diaper sounds great for overnight.
Shana Trahan says
It look so soft. We have been using cotton fitteds, but they seem to still leak onto the cover. And really holds smells. I want to try making a wool cover 🙂
Barnolds barnes says
I’d really like to try this. I like the extra softness and would be interested to know whether my son’s sensitive skin can handle it.
Zephyr Hill says
Bamboo is known for being very kind to even very sensitive skin. I would give it a try! ~Anne
Marie J says
First child coming in November..we are doing cloth. From what I see people use not just one brand for their kid. Is there a reason why you would want to have cloth diapers from different companies?
Zephyr Hill says
Congrats, Marie! Mothers end up using different brands probably because different diapers serve different purposes. For instance, you might not use the same type/brand for night time that you would during the day. I think moms just like trying different things, too. It’s fun, and you never know what new “favorite” you might discover! ~Anne
Kristyn R says
I haven’t had my first child yet, so I don’t really know about heavy wetting and cloth, but I would love to have this on hand if the need to use it did ever arise.
Claira Pam says
Trim and super absorbent sounds like a great combination!!
Lisa says
I would love to try these. I don’t really know about heavy wetters or at least have not had a problem with heavy wetters so I don’t have any suggestions but love trying new diapers.
sherry blamer says
I would love to try this diaper. my daughter can be quite a heavy wetter at times. this diaper sounds perfect for her.
KD says
A fitted with a great cover are an almost bulletproof combination. Add a hemp or bamboo doubler if you still need more absorbancy!
I haven’t tried this fitted yet on my heavy wetter, but would like to. Bamboo fitteds are great!
My favourite covers are Happy Heinys So Simple or wool covers by Someday Sarah.
Laura says
I would love to try this for nighttime. I use cloth during the day but have not found a nighttime solution yet.
Sarah Hayes says
i love that they are very absorbent without being bulky. Id love to try one of these and have wondered how they compare to sbish obfs. very def need a better night solution and I think one of these with wool would be perfect
Vivian Sun says
I usually use disposables for overnight but fitted sounds like it might work for us too!!
Emily says
I have only used pocket diapers so far, but the older dd gets, the heavier she wets!!! when using a fited, what are the best covers to use? would double sets of snaps bother dd?
Zephyr Hill says
Emily, as mentioned in the review, I found this diaper to be trim enough that all my one-size covers work with it, to varying degrees. Flips and similar covers give the best coverage. If you’re using another type of fitted, like a hybrid, it will be much bulkier and you would definitely need a roomier cover. It’s also possible to use your pocket diaper shell as a cover, to save money. As for double sets of snaps, they have never bothered my little ones. ~Anne
Amy Wright says
Fitteds are the way to go for heavy wetters. I’d love to try this one. Looks super comfy.
Nicole Bear says
I only have a couple fitteds, but they are great for night time. I wish I had more.
Jenn Cox says
Love bamboo, and love fitteds! Just from the pics this looks extremely soft!
Steph M says
I love my Good night heavy wetters by Kawaii for night time but they are sure bulky! I also use old FuzziBunz stuffed with a big mf insert and a hemp booster underneath. My heavy-wetting 2-month-old wears FB size smalls stuffed with Grovia size 2 bamboo/cotton prefolds during the day. That is working really well. At night, she wears a fitted with a Flip.
Kimberly Worrell says
Still searching for my overnight solution. We have other fitted that work ok if stuffed with a heavy duty hemp flat & a bamboo insert. Hoping to find something a little less bulky, hopefully this will be that diaper
kayla says
i love using bamboo fitted.
Keri Huck says
I haven’t tried fitteds, but I’d really like to! Any time I’ve looked at some they are always insanely expensive, $19 isn’t bad though. Baby is due in August so we’ll see!
Kari Barone says
I think that bamboo diapers, any type; are truly the ultimate answer to a dry baby!I wish that I knew about bamboo in 2008 when I was cloth diapering my first!
Stephanie Marcus says
With heavy wetter we have tried hemp doublers in our pockets.
Lindsey Jolliff says
I just purchased one of these from my local cloth store from the owner’s personal stash, yesterday. She told me how much she loved this diaper and it would be great to have two to rotate for nights.
Zephyr Hill says
I’d love to have a second one myself! ~Anne
Christina says
I love Fitteds for nights. But how do these fit under a pul cover? Does it get bunched up where you snap up the rise? I’ve had a hard time with AIOs for that reason. It just doesn’t seem comfortable. Any suggestions?
Zephyr Hill says
Hi Christina! I mentioned in the review that all of our (one size) PUL covers have worked with this fitted diaper. Brands like Flip and Sweet Pea offer the most coverage, but there hasn’t been one in my stash that doesn’t coordinate with the Wonderful Bambino fitted. If you look at the photos in the review, you’ll see that snapping up the rise doesn’t create a lot of bulk or cause bunching, and since the soaker is already sewn in, you don’t have to worry about an insert or soaker moving or shifting around. This is really a well-fitting, trim and comfy diaper for my toddler! Thanks for entering the giveaway! ~Anne
Mia S. says
Just discovered bamboo and am curious about this!
Tara says
Fitteds and wool overnight are amazing!!
Crystal M. says
I hope I win this! I need a nighttime solution. We use disposables at night 🙁
Christine says
I am expecting next month and I would love to try out a bamboo or hemp fitted as it is missing from my little stash! I hear so many great things about their absorbency.
Sarah Griffin says
I have a wonderful Bambino diaper on the way and can’t wait to see how well it works! Right now for over nights we use fitteds with a hemp insert under wool.
Jodi Armstrong says
I haven’t tried fitted yet- but think it would make an awesome night time addition to my hemp prefolds 🙂
Jessie Ruiz says
Does it come in other colors?
Zephyr Hill says
Hi Jessie! As I shared in the review, you can choose red or green edging for your diaper. Most bamboo and hemp fitteds do not come in prints or colors, but are simply the natural color of the fabric; hybrid fitteds offer more variety and customization, if that’s important to you, because they are made with a cotton outer. Thanks for entering the giveaway! ~Anne
Paige Ring says
LOVE fitteds and definitely would like to try bamboo.
Heidi (Hajdi Laurel) says
I have been using a hemp insert under a cotton prefold at night and its so bulky, I want to try a bamboo fitted now after hearing so many great reviews!
Kristen Varner says
I would LOVE to try a bamboo fitted diaper. I need a night time solution that works.
Amy says
I’ve just gotten into the world of fitteds and bamboo. How is the rise in the diaper? I mainly use flip or imagine covers.
Zephyr Hill says
It’s in the wash, so I can’t measure at this moment but it works fine with my Flip and Sweet Pea covers. ~Anne
Zephyr Hill says
Ok, it’s clean now! When the diaper is on the largest setting, from waistband down to crotch it’s roughly 7 inches or so. ~Anne
Jennifer says
we only have a couple fitteds but this looks wonderful! i love geffen absorbers for my deluge pee-er of a son! they’re wicked small but super thirsty!

Paige Ring says
LOVE fitteds and definitely would like to try bamboo!
Amanda says
I love fitteds and have been wanting to try a bamboo one.
Melissa C. says
Dry time is a bummer 🙁 And how cleanly does it wash of toddler pee? We use 4.0s stuffed with a flat+hemp doubler at night and it’s an awesome combo for easy wash/dry.
Zephyr Hill says
So far I haven’t had any trouble rinsing/washing out toddler diapers, even after using it overnight. Thanks for entering the giveaway, Melissa! ~Anne
Laurie P says
We use a bamboo fitted at night, sometimes (not too often), she wakes up soaked thru, but she also sleeps with her bum waaaay up in the air.
EricaC says
I’d love to try this – I like that it’s soft and absorbant!
emwells says
Fitteds are definitely my nighttime go-to, with a hemp insert.
Tammy says
I use fitteds too. Currently using Mother-Ease and about to try their night time package!
Ruqayyah says
Very very interested to try these bamboo fitteds. And their website has a sale today only, save 25% with the code “save” . I do wish that there was a solution with bamboo that didn’t require an additional piece (cover). I need even simpler (AIO) solutions for heavy wetter overnights with grandma! Any suggestions?
Anne Perry says
Wool pants or a fleece cover.
Ashley Despain says
I’ve been looking for a good night time diaper. We don’t change at night so we need something that works all night long. Sounds like this diaper would do the trick. Great review.
April E says
I really think Bamboo is the Secret to dry nights, would love to try this one

Nighttime diapering is such a challenge!
Jo-Ann says
I’m interested in why you prefer Sweet Pea covers? I have a MotherEase that covers really well, but is ginormous!
Zephyr Hill says
Sweet Peas are trim but still give great coverage. I also love how soft and smooth the waterproof fabric is compared to some other covers. And the price (under $11) is great, considering all the prints and colors you can choose from! ~Anne
beki Lozano says
i would so love to try this diaper it looks so soft and a great nighttime diaper! love the green snaps too!! so cute
erin says
So far a very stuffed pocket works for my little guy, but he’s only 8 months old. We’ll see what happens as he gets bigger… might have to try some fitteds one day
Lara Clinton says
I like that this diaper can be so absorbent without being too enormous. I know some people love the “fluff” look but I love trim shapes.
Crystal E says
At night, we’ve used a kissaluvs fitted with a hemp/cotton liner and a cotton doubler– that usually works for sleeping the whole night through. would love to add this bamboo to our night time stash!
Lily W says
I am due with my first in July and was wondering how many of these I would need to be able to do laundry every other day? Thanks!!
Zephyr Hill says
Hi Lily! Newborns can go through 8 to 10 cloth diapers a day, so you’d want maybe 20 to start with. I’m not sure how the Wonderful Bambino fits on a newborn, but I’m definitely going to post about it in August when my new baby is here! ~Anne
Kate Record says
Fitteds are ALL we use at night with wool – they’re the only thing that has worked for our little heavy wetter!
Shanna M says
Are these the type of diapers that need a cover?
Zephyr Hill says
Yes, you’ll need a cover since these diapers are 100% bamboo – very absorbent but not waterproof. Thanks for entering, Shanna! ~Anne
Shanna M says
Do you have a preferred cover that you use? I was planning on stocking some Thirsties in my stash for when this little one comes. Do you think basically any cover will work?
Zephyr Hill says
Since these are trim fitteds, I would say that the majority of one-size covers would work. Thirsties should be fine. My favorites are Sweet Peas and they are less than $11 each. You can find them at Kelly’s Closet and Kissed by the Moon and Diaper Junction (best selection). Congrats on your pregnancy! ~Anne

I use a prefold in Kawaii Goodnight Heavy Wetter pocket diapers. Never had a leak!
Andrea H. says
I’ve never tried fitters but I would really like too!
Tandi Cortez-Rios says
I would love to win this for my son, they look a lot more comfortable than the diapers he’s in now.
christine k says
Surprisingly, a single flat works great for my heavy wetter where as double stuffed diapers leak. A larger size flat, of course… not a tiny one.
Jennifer says
I love the idea of fitteds. I’ve never tried them though. They just look so soft and comfy.
Rachel says
Wow! TWO dryer cycles?!? Do you use wool dryer balls? I wonder how long it would take for them to air dry?!?…I’d worry about them taking forever!
Joanne Gregory says
My daughter is still using disposables at night because they co-sleep and she doesn’t want to chance a wet family bed. But I have found fitteds work well when I have the baby during the day.
Lindsie Nygaard says
I have one of these coming in the mail to me right now! I can’t wait to see how absorbent bamboo is!
Lauryn says
I am a first time mom and due in 3 months. The hubby and I have decided to start the cloth diapering adventure…. Let the fun begin!!!!
Diane Cooper says
My daughter has a few of these bamboo diapers and I love how truly absorbent they are, yet trim looking.
Tracy Ames-Dennison says
We don’t own any fitted, as I just recently discovered them and what they are about.!
Michelle H says
Bamboo fitteds are our first choice for our heavy-wetting toddler, and easy for Daddy to put on. As long as he remembers the wool cover too! Fleece pjs on top of all that really makes for a dry bed, no matter what. Her big sister appreciates that, since they share a bed.
Candice L says
I am fairly new to cloth diapering, and have not tried fitters yet, this would be an awesome prize to win! Thanks!
Storm Duncan says
Really interested in trying a fitted for nigh time. Maybe this is my lucky day 🙂
Sarah Aguirre says
I’m new to cloth diapering so it would be nice to give these a shot : D!
Christine S. says
Would love to try one of these. I love bamboo and am searching for a good overnight diaper for my little one.
amanda w says
heavy wetting is something I’m worried about – we’re starting with cloth for our baby in July and that has the potential to be a deal breaker for my husband. I definitely plan on trying some fitteds!
Laura A says
we have yet to try a fitted diaper. My lil one is 7 months and has not leaked at night with blueberry diaper , but as he gets older he will need more absorbency .
melissa christenson says
I am really wanting to start cloth diapering but cant afford the ‘start up cost’ Hopfully I can win a diaper t offset the cost just a little bit.
Monique Eckert says
For my heavy wetter we have to do WAHM hybrid fitteds with wool interlock covers, it is the only thing that get him through the night?
Katherine Schofield says
This diaper does look nice and trim. We’re hoping to line/sun dry our diapers so I wonder if that will work with this one, given you’re issues with needing to dry twice. I wouldn’t want it to mildew!
genie says
I haven’t tried a fitted on my newborn yet, but they are more appealing the more I research options.
Mishael says
I’m interested in trying these. I have some all in ones that take twice as long to dry so I usually hang then out in the sun (gets rid of stains) & will throw them in the dryer after.
Andrea C says
Thank you!
Lauren S. says
Never used fitted but I have heard they are good to prevent diaper rash, which is something we do deal with.
Vicki Hall says
I like using a stay dry pocket diaper at night usually a bumGenius 4.0 with and extra hemp or bamboo insert.
Anel says
I heard great things about these diapers! I like that they are one size. I love the green stitching; it’s so cute! I like how trim they are. Totally worth investing in a couple. 🙂 Thank you!
