With fall and winter come cold, harsh winds, and for many of us that means dryness. The generous ladies at Moody Sisters sent some complimentary organic skin care products for me to test drive: the Hydrating Facial Serum and Eye Makeup Remover.
I like their quirky label. The stressed out kitty humorously illustrates the concept of “moody” skin. All of their natural products are made by two real-life sisters from Cashmere, Wisconsin. Things you won’t find in Moody Sisters formulations? Caustic chemicals, dyes, synthetic fragrances, parabens or sulfates.
Here are my thoughts on both:
Hydrating Facial Oil: Despite the name, you can use this almost anywhere to help lock in moisture. It’s a fantastic “spot treatment” for dry patches on your family’s skin (the Midwestern winds are really rough on us Southern transplants). Ingredients include jojoba, rose hips, sunflower and coconut oils and herbal extracts. The fragrance has just a hint of citrus and is quite pleasant. It’s $19.25 for 4 ounces, and it goes a long way. Room for improvement? I’d prefer a pump applicator because shaking it out gets messy.
Eye Makeup Remover: This is a more simple formulation containing mainly apricot kernel and sunflower oils plus Vitamin E. It removes make-up like a charm and as a bonus leaves your skin nice and smooth. The ingredients are non-staining so you can apply with reusable cloths. The Eye Makeup Remover hardly has a fragrance at all; the apricot and sunflower lend just the subtlest shade of a scent. As with the facial oil, I think it would help if the product could be pumped or squeezed (instead of shaken) out.

These products sound amazing. I have very moody skin. Some of it is dry while some of it is oily. These products sound like they would work for me. I love that there are no chemicals in them. My face can be super sensitive to chemicals. Thanks for the chance.

I LOVE that these products are all natural! It’s hard to find skincare products that aren’t full of scary stuff (especially in mainstream retail stores), but I will definitely look into the Moody Sisters!

I think If I had the facial oil, I might use it on my hands right now, as they are very dry from the cooler weather. I would love for most of my skin products to be natural, so I like that they are!
