Comfort & Harmony Portable Swing Review

April 9, 2013 by Anne Marie 46 Comments

Spread it around!

It seems like I’m always looking for a nice, safe spot to park baby Erik when things get busy around here. He does have a big brother and sister who love to hold him, but every once in a while all of our arms are occupied!

Enter the Comfort & Harmony Swing in Sandstone Fashion.

After pulling it from the box and noticing how lightweight it was, I thought to myself that it must be a very basic infant swing. But I was very pleasantly surprised by all of the features we discovered.

  • There are two positions for the seat – recline and semi-sitting. After Erik has fallen asleep, the tilt mechanism allows me to smoothly and quietly lay him back without disturbance.
  • The swing has six speed settings, and can be put on a timer. The music volume is adjustable.
  • There’s a little plush pillow that attaches with velcro, but it’s higher up on the seat so Erik’s head doesn’t reach it yet. I’ve put it aside for later.
  • At 23 inches high and 23 inches wide, the Comfort & Harmony swing does not take up a lot of floor space.
  • My 9 and 10 year old son and daughter can easily lift the whole swing and move it from place to place; sturdy non-skid feet mean it’s not going anywhere once we set it down.
  • The “Sandstone Fashion” design features soft plush fabrics accented with cozy animals, and is neutral enough to compliment almost any room in your home.
  • The toy bar is detachable and can be tilted up or down to align with your baby’s field of vision.

One more nifty feature I wanted to mention is the plush lion pad which flips down to cover the buckle (demonstrated below). Not only is it cute, but it deters your baby from reaching down to fool with the safety straps (which are fully adjustable from the back).

Erik weighs about 13 pounds and I noticed that to get the swing really moving, a higher speed setting is required. So it seems that more weight slows it down a bit. The lower speeds would probably only work for newborns. The swing uses four C batteries; with light use I discovered that they last a good while. But honestly, this is such a cozy and soft little spot for Erik that half the time I don’t even use the swing feature. He just loves to sit in the seat, and “talk” to the little stuffed animals and see what’s going on all around him.

At $59.99, I would say it’s worth the price you pay. It’s available online, exclusively at Target.

A swing was a life saver when my girl was an infant! I need to get another one for my little guy. That one looks ideal!

Oh, this looks wonderful! We LOVED our swing – we actually burnt out the motor 🙂 This one looks so much more portable than ours.

I love the idea of this swing! We have been looking for something like this that would be easy to toss in the car and take to my moms, and this looks like it would fit the bill! Thank you for sharing!!!

My first didn’t really care for her swing, but maybe #2 will. I love how compact and portable this one is!

I think lightweight is great for moving all around the house and taking on trips. I also like the colors because they are gender neutral and the price is very good. 🙂

Nice review – and such a cute swing (and babe). I like that it’s lightweight enough for your little helpers to move around. These things can be so bulky and awkward.

I wish I ‘d had this when Greta was smaller! She would have loved to hang out in there… I’m like you, and only turn the swing part on once they’re sick of just hanging out and looking around. The tilt option seems really cool. I’ve never seen a portable swing with so many great features! I’ll have to add this to my wishlist for the next one! 😉

I don’t like fooling with batteries constantly, so I’m glad that Erik is content without using the swing feature all the time. Thanks for commenting, Ellen. I love your daughter’s name! ~Anne

I love that this is great for limited space. Especially with other siblings around, there isn’t a lot of extra space around here 🙂 I also love that the belt is covered. Definitely another lifesaver with older children

I like the adjustable toy bar. Our baby couldn’t see the one on our swing until she was about 5 months.

Just had my 4th boy. With all of the junk that gets crammed into the car with 3 older ones and the amount of stuff that goes where baby goes, it is so great having a portable swing instead of having to cart around a full size one. Thanks for sharing this review!

I have an older version of this same swing and I love it. We have a full sized swing as well but use this one downstairs or when we are traveling. I have a grumpy baby but she loves her swing so this little one lets us accomodate that and bring it with us.

So I’m usually turned off by battery-only swings, but this seems super affordable. I think we paid twice that for the one we have, and it’s definitely not portable.
