The InGenuity Baby Washable Playard arrived on our doorstep a few weeks ago, and to say I was happy for the opportunity to review it is an understatement. We’re living with six children with limited space in a small farmhouse so a playard which includes a changing station, a bassinet AND little “nest” to sleep in is definitely a welcome addition! The adorable, gender-neutral animal print is called “Shiloh.” And it’s machine washable; more on this neat feature later…
It took my son Joseph and me about 10 minutes to unpack and assemble the playard. Very easy! All of the extra components snap on to the sides with sturdy plastic clamps. You push down firmly and they pop right into place:
The Dream Centre is a very soft and cozy little bed that snaps on top; a perfect newborn “nest.” It’s easily within arms reach; no stooping over to get your baby in and out. Mesh panels on the side allow airflow around your little one. There’s a canopy that you can snap on, with toys that hang down. For some reason, I had a lot of difficulty getting the clamps to fasten on this particular component, and I noticed that the toy animals aren’t really in Erik’s line of vision. They are high and back, which means he has to tilt his head to see them. Other than the issues we had with the canopy, I love the Dream Centre and Erik does, too. He’s already taken quite a few naps there, and it’s a handy place to lay him down when I’m busy.
There’s also a little snuggly pillow with a giraffe applique:
Like the other snap-on components, the changing station is designed for younger babies. Erik is 2 months old and 10 pounds and you can see there’s just a little bit of extra room in the compartment. The removable/washable cover has a slick white surface which can be wiped clean, but it’s also a bit cold on bare skin. To make things a little more comfortable for Erik, I usually just lay an old diaper or burp cloth under him during changes. The changing station can be flipped up and over to get it out of the way without unsnapping.
The Accessory Tray can attach to either end and holds changing supplies, toys or whatever else might be handy to have near your baby.
It’s difficult to get to the battery compartment on the Soothing Sounds Station which attaches to the side of the playard. The opening is very narrow. But once we got that done, attaching it was a breeze. You can choose between five songs which are very quiet and restful, and three nature sounds (water, birds, chirping, etc.). There’s a high and low volume setting.
Washable: Why is it so important to me that this is a washable playard? Over the years we’ve had many messes in our playards that were difficult to clean, and even after a lot of scrubbing and sanitizing I wasn’t satisfied. It’s easy to miss tiny remnants of dirt and germs stuck inside the tiny openings of the mesh sidewalls. With my InGenuity Baby playard I don’t worry about that at all anymore. It’s made of fabrics that can be completely removed and tossed in the washing machine. That means our playard can be 100% clean and sanitary. Everything unfastens in minutes by way of velcro tabs at the outside corners and zippers inside.
And on top of all those features, the InGenuity Baby playard also includes a bassinet, which sits higher in the playard and is perfect for when your newborn outgrows the little sleeper. Even better: you can fold the entire playard up without having to remove the bassinet. Genius! And of course, there’s the large playard itself which is great for infants and toddlers. It really is very roomy – Samuel and Susanna played happily in there this morning while I did school work with Joseph and Catherine:
So all this means that in our family, three of our children can enjoy this one product; not bad at all for a price tag of $179.00!
Here’s a short video clip which highlights a few of the features:

I really love the features of this playard and wish I had it when my other children were babies! Besides the minor issues that are mentioned above, I’m VERY impressed with this product and can’t wait to see what else InGenuity has to offer.

WOW, it really looks luxurious – and looks to be a real space saver.
Nice!
I love that it is washable and comes with so many space saving options.
The Dream Centre looks wonderful and comfortable.
I also love that it is washable!!
My two favorite features! ~Anne
machine washable! No way! That is an amazing feature! If I can’t wash it in the washer, it doesnt come into my house! Thanks for the detailed review.
Love the wash ability! When my oldest was tiny I was changing his diaper on the pack nplay changing area and didn’t cover fast enough-pee everywhere! Such a pain to try to wash parts of it!
I love that it’s washable! That is brilliant!
What a great product! Of course, I love that it is washable! I just had a bear of a time trying to clean our bassinet before putting it away in storage. I may have to splurge and get this for our next baby.
This looks like a great item to have especially since it is washable and appears to be a huge space saver.
I like that it is machine washable and has so many useful features!
Love that it’s washable! The cute little bassinet would be great for when you just bring baby home. It’s like a little care center, perfect for the bedroom!
You’re right! It has been the perfect thing to have in our bedroom.
So cool that ir’s washable! I always put a sheet down in ours so I know that at least some ot it is clean.
This looks even better than the pack n plays that they sell at Toys R Us. I’ve never owned a pack n play, but this is tempting 🙂
I have to say I think I just about passed out when I read it was machine washable! I spend like an hour trying to hand wash our one that we use at Grandma’s and it drives me crazy! Definitely a great selling point for me
I love the fack that it is washable. do you still need to use a pack and play sheet with it or does it come with one?
I haven’t bought sheets for it yet but apparently they work with standard size that you can buy a Toysrus, Walmart, etc.
love that it’s washable. I feel like pack-n-plays get so grungy after time. Also a mom friend just told me not to buy a pack-n-play that doesn’t have a bassinet – so this is perfect!
Wow they have thought of everything! This is a great play yard!
The versatility of this thing is awesome!!
Love the “nest” and the fact that the changing station can be flipped out of the way!
Perfect for a newborn and then a growing babe. Thanks for the chance to win!
We are having our first LO in 6 weeks and just bought this exact one! So excited everything is washable!!
I just bought a mini pack n play to use when our son is born, but I love the features of this product!! Makes me rethink my purchase…
My 2 year old “decorated” our pack n play with her purple crayon. I wish it were washable like this one. All baby gear should be washable!
Amen, Olivia!
Dream center looks awesome, I love our playyard but that looks like a bonus for sure
I like the fact that it is washable. I also like the bassinet because I like to keep a newborn close to me. Plus, I don’t want my little one to wake up my toddler if they are in the same room.
I have a friend who has this playard and I just drool over it! It is so cool with all the features. The removable bassinet is my favorite.
You have such adorable little ones!! I like the idea of the changing table and the newborn seat!
Wow! I love that you can completely remove the material to wash it!
I love all the attachments!
it looks huge with the 2 bigger kiddos in it. this looks like a really useful product.
This looks amazing – my friends have recommended to be sure to get one with a newborn level and a changing area – this works! And I love that it’s washable!
Wow, I have never heard of a washable play yard. Love that idea!! My little one got an upset tummy in hers a few months ago, and boy was it a pain to clean!
I love that it only took you 10 minutes to assemble! I also love that it can be used as a changing station, I would keep this downstairs so I didn’t have to.go upstairs for every diaper change!
I love the washable feature! One disappointment of my current play yard is that the mattress isn’t even wipeable! It’s covered in some sort of velour-ish fabric. This looks great!
Wow, think I’ll add this to my baby registry!
I LOVE that this is washable!
It’s about time somebody made a playpen that is washable! I really love that newborn bassinet thing, my daughter would love that.
Looks nice and comfy!
Love the extra small bassinet area! Wish I had that when DS was small!
Nice that it’s washable, but probably not enough to get me to replace the one I already have.
I love that it’s washable, and the bottom of it looks like it’s slightly more padded and comfortable than the Graco Pack n’ play that I have… But still firm to be safe.
Machine washable?! I need to purchase another playard and I think that I will go with this one instead of a different brand i was planning on buying- thanks! 🙂
Wow! This one is such a pretty playard! And washable is pretty awesome, haha.
This looks like an awesome product. I love that it is washable!
That looks amazing, I love that the bed flips out of the way
The Dream Centre looks like an awesome feature! I have the similar pack and play but this has even more features!
I have an older pack and play, and have been looking to get a new one. Love the color and it looks so much more comfortable!
I like that it has seperate changing table and basinette attachments and that their is mesh on the basinette
Looks like a fab playyard–love the washable factor.
I wish my co-sleeper was machine washable! That is so awesome!
lots of good information. I would really help me know what I was getting.
Nice review, thanks. The pillow worries me as far as safety goes, but I assume it’s removable?
Yes, it’s removable!
I love the fact that this is gender neutral, is washable, and has so many features included in one.
Love the changing table feature! We’re traveling this summer and that would be SO nice!
Love this!
This looks like a really good one. We have a Graco and while we are fine with it, the side has started to rip after only one year. And we hardly use the thing,
What will they think of next. I have a lit of the features on mine but its not so easy to wash.
This is very nice…I have the ingenuity swing and I LOVE it!
Where was this when I started having babies?!? 🙂 Sounds awesome! I would love to have one that is completely washable. The little pod sounds very nice too… I have never heard of this brand before, but it seems like they thought of everything! Little G is outgrowing her cradle, so it would be wonderful to have something like this for her!
I love that this is washable! And the neutral color is great too.
It is so cute!! And sooo handy that you can actually wash it!
I absolutely love that it’s machine washable! I wish the price tag wasn’t so high but other than that I don’t see anything about it that I don’t like!
Love that it’s washable and has quick fold features.
I love the changing table part… and the way it folds up so nice.
I love the bassinet and changing station features. All in one! Love it!
I really love that you can fold up this playard without removing the bassinet. It’s also wonderful that it is washable!
This has everything. I am jealous, we did not have this when my kids were little. If I win my newest granddaughter will though – good luck everyone
machine washable and the way it fold us is great
love this, looks so comfy love that its machine washable. I also love the changing part of the it since you can have everything in your room.
I love that you can fold the playard up without removing the bassinet. They really did think of everything!
I want this! what a great play yard to have so many uses in one! i am pregnant with number 6 and i am starting over since i got rid of all of our baby stuff oops should have held on to it a little longer!
i love all the extra add ons, bassinet, changing table, etc!
It’s washable and I love the Dream Centre, thanks for the review….pretty babies!
Looks like a great playard! Fingers crossed for this one!!
I’ve never seen a washable playard. I would love this
I love that the fabric can be removed and laundered, but I wonder if the Velcro attachments would stand up to my girl’s talent for deconstructing anything that can be disassembled.
I love that it is washable! Very unique for a play yard and even though we are only getting ready for have our first child I can assume this will come in handy 😉
This looks both compact and convenient!
This would be perfect! Also in time for our newest addition 🙂
I love this playard! It has everything all in one and its washable!
I’ve never seen a washable playard . I love it
I love the idea of the “nest,” but it kind of stinks that the toys aren’t easy to attach or in the child’s vision.
The only feature missing is something like the “stages” that Graco introduced last year (basically a level middle level for babies weighing 15-20 lbs who can’t crawl). That was introduced after my son was born, but it really would have saved my back!
I love how perfect the gender neutral color is.. machine washable will save me a lot of time too! exciting!
I love that it is machine washable! Definitely a must have feature. I also love that you can use this for more than just sleeping
this playard is adorable it really looks like its a space savor too Love thats its machine washable
I love this! Looks so comfortable, And I love that it is machine washable.
Great review ! I absolutely love that it is washable !!!!!!! There are so many time that I have wished mine was !
I absolutely love that this is machine washable!!
Washable….what more could you ask for?!? I love the dream center, too:)
I like that its washable. My 2 babies wpould love this looks like a real space saver
I love your review. I appreciate how you tell the great and the not so great about it. I’m seriously looking at this one for baby number 5 on the way. Not sure it’s going to fit into my budget though…
I’ve never heard of this brand but it looks super nice at a very reasonable price! The little nest looks like it would be awesome for nighttime feedings to keep a baby close.
I really like the Dream Centre, it looks comfy!!
Wow! This playard is great! Do you know if the mattress pad is waterproof? Do you need to buy seperate sheets for this playard?
I love the way you present this. Pack n play is really important when parents are busy with their household work.
