Although I’ve got three children in cloth right now, it doesn’t really matter how many you’re diapering before the stuff begins to pile up. Diapers, covers, wipes and all the accessories………even the roomiest changing table can quickly begin to overflow! Luckily, I discovered the perfect solution to my storage problems: a shoe organizer with a sturdy metal frame and durable canvas pockets. We purchased it at Walmart and had it put together in 15 minutes.
The shoe compartments perfectly hold the different components of my diapering system which includes prefolds, inserts, covers, doublers and a few pockets. There was even a little room left over for nursing pads, burp cloths, extra cloth wipes and a few disposables for emergencies.
Besides the extra storage this organizer offers (and the chance to “display” your fluffy collection), I love that it’s at eye level.
There are different ways you can anchor this organizer to the wall. My husband located the studs and then inserted two very sturdy hooks. That made it extremely easy for me to hang because the organizer has a metal frame composed of rods. They slipped onto the wall-mounted hooks in seconds. You could also use long screws and hang the rack that way. And if you can’t locate the studs, using wall anchors is a must! Although this rack is probably lighter filled with diapers than it would be with lots of heavy shoes, you still need to anchor it properly. And to be safe, don’t mount it right above your changing table where baby will be.
Other options might be setting it up on top of a table or dresser, or even mounting it in a large closet.
Here’s a close-up of the hook which holds one side up.
A few more storage options:
- Dresser drawer
- Stackable cubes, storage bins and baskets
- Bottom of changing table or bassinet
- Over the door hanging organizer
Happy diapering!
