Your privacy is very important to me. As the sole owner/administrator at the Zephyr Hill Blog, I have a few fundamental principles that I follow:
- I don’t ask you for personal information for no apparent reason.
- I don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, for prize fulfillment or to protect my rights.
Website Visitors
Like most websites, Zephyr Hill Blog collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. My purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how visitors use my site, and improve their experiences.
As a security measure, I also collect potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on my blog.
Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information
Certain visitors to Zephyr Hill choose to interact in ways that require me to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that I gather depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, I ask visitors who comment on my blog to provide a name (can be a pseudonym or anonymous) and email address. Those who wish to receive my periodic email newsletter, share (1) their first name (2) their email address and (3) that they are 18 years of age or older.
Visitors to my site can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities and/or promotions.
Aggregated Statistics
I collects statistics about the behavior of visitors to the site. For instance, I may monitor the most popular pages on the blog, look at demographics, or use spam screened by the Akismet service to help identify and cut down on spam.
Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information
I will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. The only time personal information is shared is when a winner is confirmed for a giveaway or promotion, and the client requires it for prize fulfillment. This may include full name, mailing address, email address and/or phone number. Other than that, I will disclose potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when I believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of myself, my blog, third parties or the public at large.
I take all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.
Cookies
A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. The Zephyr Hill Blog uses cookies to help identify and track visitors, their usage of the site, and their website access preferences. Visitors to my blog who do NOT wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before accessing the Zephyr Hill Blog website, with the drawback that certain features of the site may not function properly without the aid of cookies.
Business Transfers
If my blog, or substantially all of its assets were acquired, or in the unlikely event that my blog goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of the Zephyr Hill Blog may continue to use your personal information as set forth in this policy.

At this time, I do not run paid sidebar advertisements or banner ads on my website, although I do share affiliate links. These may contain cookies which allow my affiliate partners to recognize your computer each time you visit their site. This Privacy Policy covers the use of cookies by Zephyr Hill Blog and does not cover the use of cookies by any of my affiliate partners. I also publish sponsored content from time to time, and will always disclose if this is the case, as well as designate all links as “no follow” or “sponsored” per Google guidelines.
