Do you ever find something great for your baby and wish you had it when your older children were little? My Mother’s Touch Deluxe Bather by Summer Infant is just one of those things! It features a sling-style support which rests on a wire frame. The complimentary bather I received to review has a cute turtle applique on the head rest and pond critters on the sling:
For a price tag of $19.99, the Mothers Touch Deluxe Bather (model 18500) has some really nice features:
- Padded head support (removable)
- Fabric sling which conforms to baby’s body
- 2 position back rest
- Removable and machine washable cover and mildew-resistant fabric
- Compact size of 14.4 x 13 x 3 inches
- Folds in half for easy storage
Erik is not yet sitting up on his own, so the soft body of this bather is great for cradling him securely during a bath. The sturdy base and non-skid feet help provide stability. However, the sling is probably too wide to keep a tiny newborn from rolling to one side or the other.
We’ve used this both in the tub and in our large/deep laundry room sink. The mesh sling design is one my favorite features because it allows water to flow over the baby and down the drain; with a plastic tub the baby ends up sitting in dirty water, and it can be a little tricky to empty without sloshing. The mesh design and metal frame also mean this is a very lightweight and easy to clean piece of baby gear.
The bather can be folded in half and easily tucked away in a closet or cabinet. After bathtime, I hang it up to dry on the towel rack in the shower. Because it’s so lightweight and portable, I’m definitely taking this along on our family vacation at the end of the month.
What I would improve: One obvious drawback to this type of bather is that it’s not freestanding. You have to put it in a bathtub or sink so that the water will drain away, unlike a standard plastic tub that can be placed anywhere. There’s also no safety strap to hold a tiny or very wiggly infant in place. This could be solved with a deeper seat that your baby was more securely cradled inside.Of course, the best medicine for keeping a baby safe and happily occupied during a bath is a watchful and careful parent.
Overall, I’m pleased with how the bather has worked for Erik at his current size. I will definitely be checking out more Summer Infant products, of which there are many: monitors, tubs, bassinets, potty training tools, safety gates, strollers and more! It can all be found on their website.
One of you will also WIN a Deluxe Infant Bather in your choice of color/print (subject to availability)!
This giveaway is open to my readers in both the U.S. and Canada. It would be great if you could thank Summer Infant on Facebook for hosting this giveaway and being so generous!
Good luck to you all!

Isn’t that the neatest thing??
I love the Lil’ Luxuries Whirlpool, Bubbling Spa & Shower. So awesome!
I would also love the Lil’ Luxuries Whirlpool, Bubbling Spa & Shower 🙂
I like how you compared it with a plastic bather – I never thought about baby sitting in dirty water! (Which is why I don’t really relish the idea of taking baths myself) Very neat product!
Thank you for explaining that it folds down – space is a big concern in our small home! 🙂
I would love the tubside seat and organizer. being five months pregnant- it is getting harder to kneel (or sit) and give my two year old his bath. this would definitely help- plus it looks like it would store all I needed and fold up easy to pack away from little hands!!
-Whisper-Classic-Comfort-Reclining-wood highchair is my favorite item.

Very nice! The pink deluxe bather is my favorite product of theirs. I’m expecting my first baby (girl!) this fall. Thanks for the opportunity.

This looks really neat. I tried the Leachco bather this time around and really like it, but it’s really heavy when wet. Definitely not portable.
